Peak Pasture: Dave Wrote-I finally had a chance to sneak away from my responsibilities and hit the hills for elk. Keith’s son Jaxon (seven years old) had been anxious to go hunting so Keith offered to call for me and bring along Jaxon for good luck. I took them up on it.
We had an uneventful morning and were headed back to the truck when we heard this guy bugling in some thick timber. Keith threw some bugles at him while we closed the distance. He finally came in and I made the shot. The arrow only struck one lung and he left almost no blood trail. Dad came up to give us a hand tracking and located the dead bull just as I was starting to lose hope of finding him. The bull grossed over 350”. I have been after an elk of this size for a long time. What a great experience words cannot do it justice thanks Keith, Dad, and Jaxon.
